96 LS400 headlight bulb questions
Ok so I used the search feature to try and find the answer to this question and found most of the info I was looking for. Anyways. I am looking to get some new new bulbs for all sections of the headlamp assembly. 2 headlight bulbs. 2 fog bulbs. 2 marker light bulbs. I want to get them all in either 4300k or 5000k which are the closest temps to perfect white.
So I know the headlight bulb has the HI and LOW beam filament in one casing and is called an H4 bulb. And I know that the fogs are 9005, same as my old matrix.
But I cannot find the optimal wattage for these bulbs?
And what is the bulb that is used in the side markers(the ones in the glass headlights not the ones below in the bumper)?

My headlights have seperate high, low and fog bulbs. Yours should too....
Are you wanting to put HID bulbs and ballasts in or just bulbs?
If you are going to go to the expense of quality bulbs and ballasts, you may as well buy a retrofit kit and do it right with a bi-Xenon hi/low kit and then some basic Hella™ Yellow or extreme white bulbs in the fogs.
I have Hella ™ bulbs in my crystal depo lights and find it to be more than enough output and without the skattering you get with hid bulbs&ballasts kits.

I'm looking to just get some bulbs. And I would like to have all of them be the same color (5000k).
Btw, what are your thoughts on the clear headlights? Can you DM me a few different close up angles of them on IG. (I just followed you)
And maybe I'm just not seeing it, but I only see 3 bulbs?
Headlight, fog light, side marker. Are there really two different bulbs for high and low?
And whats the part number for the side markers so I can get white versions of those as well.

Is that correct/would it work?

The factory halogen bulbs are 55W bulbs. If you want to keep the headlight as a halogen, in H4 I would probably recommend the Philips X-treme Vision halogen H4 bulbs. They are about a 4000K and are about the whitest light you will get in a halogen. To get anything in the 5000K range you would really need to go to HID. These are also available for the fogs, though I show it would use a 9006 bulb in the fog lights for a 96 LS400.

95-97 cars have dual high beam, one from the H4 high filament, and the other from the separate 9005. they turn on at the same time when the high beams are hit!
low: 9003 (H4)
high: 9005
fog: 9006
corner (next to headlight): 194 (but a 921 fits and is MUCH brighter)
corner (on bumper): 194
you access the foglight when your remove the corner light. low and high beam bulbs are next to each other under the same rubber boot!
