Default 1992 ls400

Looking at buying this ls400 and I really am not sure. I know Hondas very well but this is really my first branch out from that.

The car is a 1992 ls400 with 224000 miles on it. It's in decent shape. Needs rear wheel bearings. I've got the seller down to $800 on the car. Is it worth it? I was hoping to get at least a 1994 but found this.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

in short, NO. Unless that thing comes with proof the timing belt waterpump and all other maint has been done then NO.

I paid 1000 for mine and i had to burn another 600 and god knows how many hours doing all of it myself. absolute nightmare. mine supposedly had 217k on it. come to find out the odometer stopped working sometime in 09. absolutely NO idea how many miles are on my car/engine. wasnt too happy. interior in car is BEAT. at this point its the ugliest reliable pile ever lol. Im looking for a newer LS to sink money into.

its well worth it..i don't care if u have to stick another 5-700 into it..no other car will give u more miles for 1500 dollars, no brainer. that being said I would check the fluids for cleanliness and leaks

there should be more choices out there in that price range. don't "settle" and keep looking. i too came from hondas and there are many things that still apply but RWD layout is so much better! what is drawing you to such an old and big car like the LS400?

Tired of small cars. Want to do something different. Don't see a lot of the big cars slammed with some nice wheels. My boy had a gs slammed with works and I've always loved it. Love the style of something different

If you can get it that cheap and do the tune up your self, go for it. its an OG for shure. keep in mind, quality wheels that actualy fit the car when slammed cost around 2k+. Then you have the cost of coils and what not to get it sitting right, about 1k+. Then you gotta find a good looking lip, there are a few out there you can make fit that are for other cars for $30+

OCR and Timmy nailed it. If you HAVE the money and time to do it all yourself then its fine. If you are just trying to get into the platform and will just pay someone else to do stuff, then find a better example

yeah ive always done all my own work. my cousin and i do a lot of work in his garage and we are both kind of branching out. started with hondas and im moving on to something like this, and he got a 1972 mustang he is redoing.

ive been doing a ton of research and looking through this forum for a couple weeks now. looking at coilovers and wheels and what fits and everything.

looking at Megan coilovers right now. i had Godspeed coilovers on my old civic. pretty sure that megan and godspeed are the same company. the civic was super low and rode great. i know i want the coilovers that go the lowest. not saying i will just max them out, but want to know that its there.

car has got 18s on it now and going to go with 19s when i decide on wheels. i really dont want to get the wrong wheels as far as fitment goes so im reading and researching a lot. i know what stance i want and how i want it to look.

Megans wont get as low as BC. I chose the extreme drop kit with 16k F 12k R spring rates. i can lay frame on my 92 with them if i wanted to. Love these coils.

If you can do most of the work yourself why not. I got 93 with 242k miles. Just yesterday I put in new cam/crank seals and timing belt. Drives very nicely. These are nice cars but expect very high maintenance costs. Forget coilovers for awhile. Maintenance/repairs should have priority before mods

So what you are saying is that one of the most luxurious, safest, longest lasting cars ever made, with best engine on the planet, and best transmission and new timing belt and so on, is not worth $1500?

You can't even find a Civic that old for less than $1500. I think you need to check out this thing called "reality"...
