Sounds pretty minor work really if the interior is 10/10 and only has tiny rust, thats a good price.
Hopefully just an exhaust gasket, timing belt, plugs if they are misfiring, bit of body work and you'll have a nice car, 98+ cars are sweet.

Sounds like a decent deal. But don't forget cam/crank seals. Most likely they weren't done last time. Just did this to my LS. Both cams seal were leaking badly at 242K miles. Fortunately I did it myself for under $100. For you cam seal replacement is more involved because of vvt-i. You are nuts if you're planning to take to mechanic for repairs.

For that price get it and let your boy do the work. You can't loose IMO.

Sounds like you've got a good plan to get a sweet ride at pretty low cost. Go for it.

I think you have a winner... my 99 had 23+K on it, when I got it and the first TB/WP was done at Sewell at 130K, I now have 239+ plan on doing it soon.... just been reading up on the cam seals

KA8 - I have not owned a '98, but I understand that the cams have to be removed to replace the seals (not like your '93). So unless they are leaking, they are not usually replaced.

I'm going to do a cam seal how-to for the 98-00 VVT-I soon. I just finished this job and I have lots of pics.

A Gen 2.5 for 2k?

Sounds like a screaming deal to me. You can barely find Gen 1s for that in my region!

The rust always scares the #$%^ outta me, but the price is right and the LS might be the only car in the World save for an F150 that I would buy with 200k+ on the ODO.

Yeah that's a damn good deal. Even really horrible gen 2.5s still go for $4500 around here

It looks good, make sure nothing is blocking the sensor on the drivers side right next to the windshield.

Interior appears as if a civilized human being was looking after it.
A very good deal indeed. Congrats.
