How much better (if any) is the ride in a Lexus LS400 than the 95-97 Toyota Avalon?

But do you get "the feel" of the LS400 in the Avalon? Which one do you like better? Which one feels more luxurious when driving or riding in it?

If I have a choice between my old 93 LS400 and 01 Avalon XLS, I like my 01 Avalon XLS because the newer Avalon performs very close to the 93 LS. 01 Avalon XLS has leather, computer, heated seats, traction, VSC, more than the LS because it is a newer 01 model. However, I would pick the LS if it is 98 or newer because the more powerful 290 HP V8

As mentioned earlier, the Camry/Avalon share the same basic architecture as the ES300, which as you know is the entry level Lex. If the cars are in similar condition, definitely opt for the Lex. I have to admit that the 2000+ Avalons are probably the ugliest cars Toyota has put out. They have the ugliest roof line of any passenger car I've ever seen. They look all out of proportion. Prior to 2000 they were very attactive cars, styled much like a Lexus, so at least the one you're considering is the nicer looking Avalon. Just my opinion.

Totally agree, the new avalon, camry and even ES300 are ugly, don't know why they made this change. I still prefer the old light/swift style of ES300 an camry... LS430, however are very nice...

Default Lexus vs Avalon

I owned a '90 LS for five years, and absolutley loved it. Never a problem. It was like new when we seperated, it was sad getting rid of that car, but we moved to an area where we needed 4WD. Much later we bought a '98 Avalon, which was nice, comfortable and all the amenties you would really need, BUT, it isn't a Lexus by a long shot. Although the Avalon was a nice little car, it wasn't nearly as quiet, engine and wind noise, had power for a six, but not like the Lexus; and the overall quality wasn't there. The Lex was much more comfortable. Personally, I would go Lexus in a heart beat, and max out what my finances will allow. Admittedly, I am bias, but with empirical evidence and justification.

I now own a '03 LS430, luxury custom stuff, and am in love again. You have to be a Lexus owner to understand that, LOL.

Whatever your ride you decide on, inspect, inspect, inspect. It is worth your time and money. You never want to walk away with buyers remorse. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.
