95 ls400 cd changer not working not playing
I have looked all over the forums can't find my specific problem anywhere. My apologize for posting in the wrong area if I am. I new to CL
insert loaded tray into player. Player loads all cd's and recognizes them(ex: if cd is only on slot 2 & 6 cd player screen recognizes there is only cd's in slot 2 & 6). Push CD button. No sound or anything. No errors pop up on screen. This is all I see on my screen.(look at photo provided).anybody know why? there is no track or time displayed for cd playing so I'm assuming laser is not reading?
all thoughts and responses are appreciated!
even if i have to send it to get fix advise is appreciated!
thanks!

Fixed the problem.
Turns out the cd changer I got from the junk yard had a bad reader or laser.
Took apart my old one and swapped the parts..pain in the @$$ yes it was but it was enjoyable knowing that that was my problem. to anyone getting code "err 21" This is what fixed it for me. you need a new reader. I will post pics when i have a chance. finally done fixing it and all of it works!! woohoo! time to relax

Lucky that your cd player LCD is good. Mine has bad lcd on both climate control and cd player. I'm thinking about buying another cd player/receiver with hd radio .

You can replace the climate control LCD fairly easily. When I did mine 3 or 4 years ago, I paid $45 for the unit on e-bay. No soldering involved, just unbolt from the mounting bracket and undo the connectors.

Sadly, the LCD only available for ls400 90-94, not 95 and up . BTW the LCD was soldered to the climate control board. Are you saying about the LCD of the car stereo? Yes we can order whole LCD module for the cd player for $80 or more (I can't remember exact mount. I've read somewhere on the discussion board) from Toyota. IMHO, I'll save that 80 bucks for new cd player rather than pay that much for a LCD

Mine was a '91, so the later MY climate-control LCD displays could easily be a different story.
I thought it was interesting that you could buy the bare LCD board itself for about the same $$$ as the complete rebuilt unit. Even though I can solder, I chose not to take the time to de-solder the old LCD and then install the new one.(43 pins as I recall). I did have to return the first one because the glass had a permanent "frosting" effect (which looked like a child had smeared cake icing on it. The vendor replaced it immediately, and the display looked like it did when I drove it off the dealer's lot.
