98 ls 400 starter replace
i have the following tips for replaceing the starter on a 98 ls 400.
1. pull the intake in one piece and dont disturb the injectors....leave the rail bolted down
2. use a impact driver to break loose the clutch head bolts holding the intake down
3.while the intake is off it may be a good idea to pull all the injectors and relace the seals. i had one leak after i finished because i tried to remove the fuel rail and disturbed the injectors. the orings were falling apart probobly from ethanol fuel
4. test the new starter before you install
5.back of the valley has 2 drain holes... make sure they are open. i had a huge mouse/chipmunk nest with hickory nuts, cigarette butts,,,you name it
6. the drivers side bolt holding the starter in is a little rough....i used a wrachet wrench
7.replace the gaskets for the rear water crossover. you only want to remove the manifold one time
8.take pics with your cell phone before you start
9.i would relace all the coolant. the block has drains both sides.....use a 10mm flex with a long extention.
10. pull the throttle body off and clean...and its easier to pull the manifold with it off
11. TAKE YOUR TIME! i could do the job in half the time now that i know......hope i never have to. after finishing i took a nice trip to galena il to see the folage....got 28mpg! i love this car.. jimmy<")))))><

which one then? I'd say if you are doing the starter you might as well do the injector seals as well.
