Throttle Body

Throttle Body
Is cleaning the throttle body on a 93 LS a simple operation or is it something the dealer needs to do? Looks like it can be done by getting some carb cleaner and removing the air flow/filter housing.
Open the throttle spray with carb cleaner and whip clean? Is that basically it?

Its pretty easy. First you need to take out the intake accessories. There are 4 12mm bolts around the throttle body (TB) and along with one oil breather hose to the oil pan, one some type of vacum/heater hose and one radiator fluid hose. You will might need to disconnect all the accelerating cables and traction cable.
All in all you can do it in about 10-15 minutes. NOTE: Becareful when you re-install the two 12 mm bolts in the bottom of the TB. Its pretty tight and try not to drop your screw while you are doing it. YOU DROP IT, You will need a new screw.
GOOD LUCK and i hope this help. I have taken my TB out about 3-4 times. So, i know this procedure pretty well.
NOTE: You dont have to take the TPS out. Just unplug the harness.

Since you'll have the TB off, it would be a good time to check the TPS and the throttle stop screw settings as per the shop manual. I just did my wife's car and the slight shuttering that her 95 LS had when decellerrating is gone.
