Default 2000 LS Slight vibration problem I need a solution.

I have a 2000 Lexus LS400 Platnium Edition . 199k 2 owner car. Really good maintenance record. Runs really good actually. But sometimes theres a slight virbration between 1 and 2 k and seems like it shifts funky im just not sure what it is. Im new to these forums. I just was hoping to find some answers.

Sounds like a transmission mount is worn out.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Yamae and sha4000 are thinking the same as I am. With the car in gear and stopped, you'll often see the gear selector vibrate when the tranny mounts are worn. Usually by 100K this mount has separated and when removed comes out in two-three pieces. It's one unit when new. Can check some of the transmission mount threads for supplemental reading.

For the funky shifting, how is the tranny fluid color?

Could also be that someone put the wrong kind of fluid in the transmission and its now slipping some. Especially since you say its not shifting right.

highly likely it's the transmission mount. four bolts and out it comes (though you have to support the trans with a jack in the process). cheap too at ~$50 from the dealer.

And it only shifts funky at the vibrations . Which are unpredictable may not do it for four days. Then randomly once or twice one day then boom back to normal again. Overall amazing car. Runs and Handles supurb for having 199k three owner . Really good maintenance record as well.

Changed my trans mount today, what a difference!!! No more fluttering or vibration. Best $40 I've spent in a while and EASY to install.
