Dicer ~ That's probable. The possible explanation, for me, anyway, might be the possibility that my '92 LS400 underwent an engine swap at some point. The engines VIN tag has been removed, so there is no way for me to ID the block. I can't speak for the '91 car at the top of this thread. Either way, that's where those wires lead, on mine. His might be different. I guess that remains to be sorted out. Yet, he DOES have those two clipped wires, like mine. Maybe if he was to return to this thread and indicate whether or not his engine has the Fan Pump or the plain Fan Bracket.

If it was an engine swap it maybe likely that it was a transmission and electronics swap as well, a normal 92 wouldn't have the plug.
Okay mystery solved. http://www.lextreme.com/1uzfe_variants.html
The SC400 had the hydraulic fan, LS400 never had it. I spent time looking at the parts photos up to a 2000 LS400 and they just use the normal fan bracket. So someone swapped in some SC400 stuff into your car.

I was on the same track as that. My Aisin Timing Belt-Water Pump instructions specify removing Fan Bracket on LS400 engine and removing Fan Pump on SC400 engines.
Reading the 1UZfe Variants link that you posted, and according to several key points listed, it doesn't seem like my engine is actually from an SC400.
(Oil level gauge sender on LS400 and Celsior models are on the right hand side at the front (behind the power steering pump)whilst the gauge sender on SC400’s is in the center of the engine on the left hand side (behind the air conditioning compressor).
My engines Oil Level Gauge Sender is on the right hand side.
(SC400 - has the Toyota logo on the plenum and “V8 FOUR CAM 32” on the plug covers
LS400 - has an "L" badge on the plenum and "V8 FOUR CAM 32” on the plug covers.
My engine has the 'L' badge on the plenum.

Appears to me that he was trying to un-wire it. Hence the clipped wires - the chopped oil-line - and the missing fan, clutch, pulley and other parts I've only seen in pictures.
I've spoken with a number of 1st gen LS400 owners who claim to have, or have had, or have seen, or have heard of, engines with hydraulic fan pumps. So there must have been some factory options going on, aside from just engine-swaps to explain these things.
Me? I'm doing a Timing Belt - Water Pump job. And part of that job is sorting out the Fan Pump assembly and it's associated harness connections. New Fan Brackets are not cheap, and since it's only real purpose, for me anyway, is to mount the idler pulley, I'm going to re-use the Fan Pump Bracket. And in doing so, strip off all the left-over stuff hydraulic stuff that the previous owner left hanging.

According to that web site LS400 never had it. I don't have any info on 91's, but I know for a fact never offered in a 1990, and not a special option on a 92 only thing is if stuff is carried over from the previous year there is no special mention in the latest year of the option.
