Valve Cover BOLT - 1991 LS400
Oil leaking out of front here and there - went to see about tightening valve cover gaskets for a starter. First look found front port side valve cover bolt MISSING.&^%^&^^. This was my dad's and he had a bunch of work done on it the last few years (a/c, timing belt, etc....) - guess somone left it off?????
Does anyone have a manual enough to know what size/thread is the bolt, or way to purchase another bolt - maybe just go to Lexus dealer???
Thanks,
/Don

At this age, I would not be surprised if some of your valve cover screws are loose - i.e., they are basically torqued at zero. I forget the torque spec, but it is very low (but greater than zero ;-) ).
So you might want to go around and torque the ones you can access to spec. While doing this, if you find any that are completely loose (I bet you will), you can remove one to check the size, and even re-install it in the missing spot as a test that it is the same.

Thanks guys. There is a little black grille over the injector/wire rack that is for looks only and one of those screws was the same size as the valve cover. I put that in and snugged all on the driver's side down and all I could get to on the passenger side. We'll see if that slows the drips. It looks like a busy project to replace the valve cover gaskgets.
