Default Squeak sound while applying brakes

My LS400 98 squeaks when applying brakes. That squeaking sound fells like coming from the rear right wheel. Is the brake pad need to be replaced?

I'd say it's the brake pads... I've got the same problem with my 98 but it seems to be coming from both rear tires. Already replaced the front pads and rotors, just haven't had time to do the rears.. work keeps getting in the way... I hate it when that happens.

I would recommend turning the rotors if the brake are worn down low. This way when you put the new brakes on you will get even wear on the new pads

of course if you plan to replace your right rear pads, you will need to do the left rears as well to match.

outside of visual inspection, the squeaking sound is intentional to let the owner know it's time to replace the pads.
