Questions about the LS400
Ok so I've just recently bought my first 1994 Lexus LS400 and I LOVE it. I've had to do minor repairs like the front brakes and rotors and a oil change among other things. I bought the car for 1500.00 so I expected a few issues but so far nothing serious! ALL the electronics work minus the seat setters on the driver door. Even the seat belts light up when the door open! It's so awesome.
I had some questions though that I was curious if you guys could answer.
1.Where the shift **** is located, are the shift letters supposed to light up?
2.I LOVE the original look of the car and can't decide if I should change things or keep them original, for instance the Nakamichi stereo, should I upgrade or keep it original?
3.Those little speakers by the front windows, how big are those things?
4. Is there a way to make the steering wheel look nicer? It's got some wear and tear on it.
5.Does the ls400 have airbags on the sides (doors) in the back seat?
6.Anyone got some cool mods or just a nice looking LS400 they wanna show?
Thank your for your time guys.

1. Only when the lights are on.
2. If the Nak is working, keep it unless you desire a different set of features and are willing to spend the $$. It is a nice sounding system but a thumper to let your neighbors listen to while driving it is not.
3. Those tweeters are not big. One ofthe audio threads may state the size if not checking Crutchfiled will tell what they are.
4. Recovering the steering wheel or finding a nicer one at a wrecking yard is the other way. There are a few steering wheel threads here showing what some owners have done to theirs.
5. No side airbags except on models years 97+.
6. The LS400 picture thread listed in the stickies.

Like anesthesia says. Any thing else done to it other than maintenance stuff degrades the value when and if it ever comes time to sell it. Just look at all the modified junk on craigslist for sale and think of all the money most of those had spent for mods and basically have a car that only a junk yard is going to buy. If a person really has to do a modified car, then sell the one you have if it is original and use that money to buy an already modified car, that way you save 2 cars from the junk yard.
The shift letters? Good question I don't know I don't think any of mine do.

Lol Dicer I had to reread that like twice to understand what you said. I get it though, I had given it heavy thought and I'm going to keep it original. I need to get a new speaker though and tweeter so that being different from the "stock" speakers is ok right?
The glass display of the Nakamachi radio is cracked so is that replaceable or will I have to go grab another Nakamachi radio?
I will keep looking for answers to the shift letters, I mean I don' think they do but I've seen pictures where they do so once I find out I will let you know.

Also here are some questions.
What piece is that called that's missing on my car?
Also in the back seat on the floor board there is what looks like a door to narnia... jk but seriously it's like a door or something, any idea what that could be?
PS: I know my car is dirty that is how I received it, I have to take it to a place to get it cleaned up real nice.
