Default UCF21 Climate Control Unit Smoking !!

I have just received my manual Climate Control Unit, since the Celsior Nav unit is dead.
When plugged in the display lights up and everything is showing. I can adjust temp etc, but the blower isn't coming on. After about 10 seconds there was smoke coming from the back of the unit.

I have attached a pic of the offending part.
Would a seized blower motor cause this part to overheat and smoke?
Any help is much appreciated.

Judging from the board, your Celsior is the earlier version of UCF21. Mine is the later version of UCF21 and the board is different.

The CPU on your board is shaped dual in line. On the other hand, mine has a QFP. But there are motor drivers, 3 of TA8050P and 4 of SLA4708M. Those 3 TA8050P are connected to the largest connector which has 16 smaller pins and 10 larger pins.

The largest connector is not connected to the blower motor. It is connected to smaller motors such as a water valve control motor, an air mix control motor and a control motor for a cold air bypassing. Since a TA8050P can handle only up to 1.5A of DC current and it only can drive a small motor. Sorry that I don't own the early version of UCF21 and I can't help you enough. But I can assume that your root problem is caused by one of those small motors or the wiring/connector to those.

I could give you some more idea if you'd inform me to which pin the IC651's pin 3 and 5 are connected. Mine are connected as follows. These pins are all included in the largest connector.
Pin 7&20 to a water valve control motor,
Pin 8&21 to an air mix control motor,
Pin 9&22 to a control motor for a cold air bypassing.

Hope this helps some.

This may help you to find pin numbers.

Well this is the unit I bought recently because the original nav unit is not working. The part number on the unit is 55900-50182. I had no idea there are 2 different versions. My Celsior is made in 1999 and chassis number starts with UCF20.
I will have a look later at the pins.

Your model needs a 55900-50260. A 55900-50182 is for UCF20/21 models manufactured before July 1997. Those two are not fully compatible.

Pin assignments are different between a 55900-50260 and a 55900-50182.

55900-50260
Pin 7&20 to a water valve control motor,
Pin 8&21 to an air mix control motor,
Pin 9&22 to a control motor for a cold air bypassing.

55900-50182
Pin 10&23 to a water valve control motor,
Pin 12&25 to an air mix control motor,
Pin 13&26 to a control motor for a cold air bypassing.

I see so that's why it's smoking?

There seem to be no climate control units for sale in the UK. There are a few for sale in the US, but I reckon these won't work being for a left hand drive car?
Are there any for sale in Japan?

Why don't you search?
Yahoo Auction is the biggest place here to find things.
http://yahoo.aleado.com/
There are many agents who bid for people who live outside Japan.

Don't be rude, Ruud.
You must inform me the pin number first. How can I answer your question without it?
Wrong connections must have caused it. May be the output of the IC line was connected to too low impedance load.
