Yeah I know there are short cuts, I won't do them on my stuff. I don't know the newer LS stuff, but I do know crusty hoses, not fun. I don't like to do mechanic work fast. Give me a fast car and I'll do fast. Well airplane too, but machinist work and mechanic work I do like a turtle. When I go fast at that sort of thing I goof up.

Speed is the hardest thing to acquire. When I first started in this field, I tried to be fast and just like you stated, I goofed up. So I slowed down (made less money) and learned to do things right. Somewhere in the last 15 years or so speed came gradually. Above all, do it right, because doing it the second time doesn't pay well.

Should I put anything on the intake bolts, antiseaze or leave them dry?

I got the 4 nuts and 5 torx bolts all at 13ft lbs. Only one of the torx ones is giving me issues. I've torqued it to 18 and it is still not seated, I've tried going back and forth probably 20 times. I also took it out and ran the threads through my bench grinder brush to clean them. I also tried anti seaze as a lubricant, what should I do? It is driver side back torx.

I figured it out, weird problem though. I took the bolt out, compressed air in the hole to make sure nothing was in there, I then looked in and saw the threaded stud coming in from the other side. I was bottoming on that, all the torx bolts were the exact same length, what the hell?

This is what I did...
One of the bolts that I removed initially actually had damaged bottom threads. I spent some time with my bench grinder, Dremel and magnifying glass, I got the threads prefect but lost about 2 of the bottom ones so this bolt was now a touch shorter, I took that one out and put it in this problem spot, everything is now torqued to 13ftlbs.

I just hope that taking out a bolt and not having this one fully seated initially doesn't effect the gasket seal. I did centers out in a cross pattern when putting them on so I'd think it would be fine. After I got these two in I checked torque on all the others once more.
