Default Vibration!!!! I need Help

I have a 92 Ls400 and I have severe vibration in the steering wheel and shifter when I accelerate between 30 and 40 mph. then is goes away and comes back around 60 mph . From 60 to 80 there is a vibration that comes in waves. When I get 80 and beyond the vibraiton goes away completely.
I even went up to 130mph and no vibration.

Here are the things I have done to try and solve this problem:
1. replaced rims
2. replaced tires
3. four wheel alignment.

I need a little help here. Also when I have a car full of people the vibration is harder. I can't take it.

What could it be???????

Just some things that come to mind from browsing the forums the past year.....

How many miles on your car?

Have the shocks ever been replaced or swapped out for aftermarket shocks and springs?

Control arms (specifically the bushings in the control arms - but you can't replace just the bushings). Any legit mechanic should be able to check them by moving the wheel [not the steering wheel], search for threads on control arms for tips and replacement costs.

Engine mounts and transmission mounts? Again, do a search on these for troubleshooting and isolation advice.

Or you could just always drive at 80+ mph

HTH,

You took the words right out of my mouth GA400! I have a similar problem, but yours sounds a little more severe, you should try to get it fixed up as soon as you can. This tread should help some:

i have had the same problem,
check out rear axle strud rod bushings in the axle carriers they go bad soon or later, when you drive the bold goes thru the rubber and you get steel to steel, you feel it also when you normal accelerate.
the bushings are not original replaceble, but its easy to press in some universal bushings.
outside diameter 30mm ,inside 14 ,with 45.
It is easy to check when you look under your car the bolt shut be at the center at the bushing, when you pull on your parking brake and move the car there must be only a little movement in the bushings.

good luck bennie

Front control bushing is very common for 1st gen lex. Almost everyone has to have em replaced. Mine need replacing now but the vibration is bad enough to justify the price. I am gonna wait until they are completly collapsed
