Default Brake light problem

Howdy.
I have a few issues with my car (1990 LS400) and this is the one currently bugging me. I was borrowing a trailer and when I plugged it in it smoked my trailer light converter box. I fixed the wiring on the trailer and replaced the converter box but now the outer brake light don't work. The center and trunk lid brake lights still work. I checked all the fuses and they are all good. I am not getting any voltage to the brake light wire I tapped into. I am about to start tracing wires, looking for broken or melted connection. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

very common on 1st gen 90-94 cars is the wiring harness along the driver's side the trunk hinge to become brittle and break over time from constant open/closing, causing intermittent to no connections on the lights. check that first and all fuses.

Looks like there was wire that was already repaired there but it was not the problem. I think I found and fixed the problem though. There is a Lamp failure box thing that smelled bad. Took it apart and there was a burnt spot on the circuit board. Soldered on a jumper wire. The outer brake lights now work. Are they supposed to be a marker light also?
Thanks

Yes. Brake lights and marker tail lights are checked separately in the same box.
