If your expecting 2 feet of snow that could crush the roof, and bust out the moon roof.
I am hoping for some snow to see how good the trac and abs works in it. So far all we get is rain.

98 LS400
under nearly 20" of snow with 3ft+ snowdrifts
Location: Manassas Va. approx 30 miles west of Wasnington DC
wasnt planning on shoveling off the car till it stops later tonight, but i didnt even consider all that weight on the moonroof. Might go out there now and clear some of that weight off.

Currently it's snowing here in most part of Japan. I hate to drive my Celsior in the snow. Because it's not easy to climb up hills although the car has a traction control. The other day, I had to run after my wife's Toyota Avensis (4WD) and I was far behind her.
She said, "Why are you so slow and often stopped?". I was not stopping but the traction control slew me down often.

2 feet of snow will not crush the roof or bust the sunroof, thats absurd.
Both our 98 400 and 04 430 were terrible in the snow. Drove my AWD 460 for the first time last night, did great.
VSC and TRAC work well but can't overcome the fact that its a big heavy RWD car.

So if its okay to have a bunch of weight on the roof of these cars just let the kids and even you just climb up there and walk around and maybe even a sleeping bag or two. It would be absurd to think that could do any damage.

We have 3 FEET of snow here. Literally 36 inches. It's on my car, all my neighbors cars. Watching the news all day...no roofs caving into cars, no broken sunroofs. I've never heard of that happening ever in my life, not one time.
A structure roof and a car roof are different issues. The roof of a car is a significant structural member of a car. If a car can sit upside down on its roof without the roof collapsing (it can) then it can handle two feet of snow.
The directed weight of someone standing or laying on a roof is entirely different than the completely distributed weight of snow.
Find me one instance of somebody's car roof or sunroof being damaged by simply having snow accumulated on it. Whoever tried to sell you that truck was full of it.
Like I said, absurd.

Read this article about people leaving their cars in Boston under feet of snow for long periods of time. The article discusses the potential harm that may come to cars left buried under snow for long periods of time. Nowhere does anybody even consider that the weight of the snow is an issue, in fact they say the opposite.
Look at some of the pictures. No roof damage.

Being from MN 3 feet of snow won't damage anything, just brush it off. I drive my '97 ls400 through winter and it does great, better than most cars I've driven/seen. I do have winter tires on for winter which makes a lot of difference.

Winter tires make all the difference. On all seasons though, they are scary to drive in the snow.

I got a whopping 2" of snow where I live, and I lost my wheel lug key to get my 20"s off, so instead of being able to switch back to my stock wheels and no-season tires like I've been doing for years, I got around with Nexen N3000s just fine. New key came in Friday though, so when the forecast calls for snow again, I'll make the switch. The LS has never failed to navigate snowy/icy roads. My Genesis will sit at home during such weather.

back in NY it snowed nearly 2 feet

but up here at UMass it didn't really snow at all. the storm seemed to stop right at the massachusetts border. a pretty useless storm if you ask me, it didn't improve the skiing whatsoever. i'm still happy to have the blizzaks on the car though, the turanzas get all skiddy when it gets really cold, and in actual snow they're just about useless. great in the rain however...

what is this thing you call snow?
yeah i don't see snow by itself piled on the roof of our cars as a problem. too bad my car lacks any VSC so i have to resort to manual stability control. how are the old VSCs holding up to these winters? any problems?

My RWD 1995 LS400 with VSC does just as good as my 2008 FWD Accord. I think the LS400 does alright because it has a bit higher clearance than the accord....
but neither of them are snow stars, they both have all season tires.
yo gotta be careful on ice with the LS400 when it has just been started.... revs to 1500 rpm will push and over come the brakes...... a couple of times i have saved myself by putting it in neutral before sliding to far...
