Like the title says, I found the car for a good price and jumped on it. The interior isn't too good but that's not too big of a deal for me. It'll give me some stuff to fix.

cool, always thought that coach editions were all gold/beige colored. the interior is what makes the coach edition different, sorry to hear it isn't in good condition. time to get the maintenance up to date! what are you plans?

The coaches had a few different color options. The front seats are toast on it. As far as plans go I'm doing general maintenance. It's got 120k on the dash so it's time for all the good stuff. After that, I'll do Bushings, subframe swap, cd009 install and get a nice lsd. In between I'll get some rims and coils to go on it as well as done extra bits for the rear brakes. VIP all the way

Keep an eye on your local Pick/Pull place. I found a cherry interior(with 97k miles) and pulled all the seats for around $120. In fact, I also just pulled the rear seats on a 1990 ls400 for my daughters 1991. The fronts weren't that good, but the rears were great.

Oh yes. There's about 7 in the yards right now. Most are 95 and down but 96s show up about once a quarter. If I don't score some good seats there, I'll probably find some other oem or aftermarket seats to use. My sc had rx8 seats and I really liked those. I might get a leather set and make the electronics work

interested to see this subframe and LSD swap! sounds like you're building a drift machine, not VIP car! i suppose a VIP car can have such things too haha.

Well... Drifters aren't really smiled upon around here from all of my lurking so vip it is. It will however, have a very nice suspension setup and modified knuckles to ensure maximum angle... For lowered stuff.. And things. I'm hunting for a good cd009 right now. Once that happens, I'll he making some big leaps in the 5spd department.
And a steal as in I talk the guy down from 3500$ to 1600$ including tax title and license.

It is to me given the miles and what not. Suspension on it is really solid so it made it well worth it to me.

95-97 were imo the most solidly built ls's.

My 97 Coach feels way more solid than my 98 so I can attest to that statement. 98 has that 5 speed punch though. Love that boost. Good luck with the project!

Well this is all serendipity and flows well with what I'm shooting for. How does that 98 feel as far as rear suspension? I ask because I'm looking to replace my three point diff mount either the four point diff found on that model.

there is a 1996 out there with like 940,000 miles so that may be true...

i find it hard to believe (or rather, wouldn't want to admit it even if it were true) that the 97 would feel way more solid than a 98, is it possible yours was neglected at some point?
