I did the top stuff first disconnect the battery, remove the belt, then under the car, if I remember there maybe lines in the way and may have to remove a few brackets, but it all came out easy not very difficult.

It does come out the bottom as I just replaced mine on the 98. It was a right fit and I was also removing the PS pump and replacing it at the same time. If you don't fix your PS pump leak you'll be replacing your alternator again real soon. Better just do them both at the same time.

Might be helpful... you'll want to remove it anyways so you can transfer it to the new alternator.
Personal recommendation is to avoid parts from Autozone. O'Reilly's / Napa and rockauto online are better choices. It's pretty well known that Autozone is not the premier option for parts. My own experience, specifically with alternators when I went through 3 of them before I got a good one. And then there is this lawsuit filed last year in Illinois.

There are plenty of other parts houses besides Autozone.

I have done LS starter and alternator both from Oreilly's and had zero problems with them. And very likely what ever rebuilder does them for Rock auto is the same for all the other outfits too. The big difference is with the car parts places you get it now, not in a week or so and yeah pay a bit more sometimes.

Yes check the new one against your old one, and if its different take it back. If you change something yourself you could void the warranty.
