1996 LS400 problem is Speedo and Tach on gauge cluster intermittingly not working, odometer is still working though. Can these be a gauge cluster prob? or whatever controls cluster ie;ecm, pcm,etc ?

Yes likely the cluster has a problem, take it out and send it to Tanin Autoelectric they are a sponsor of CL. And If you attempt to try to work on the cluster you will see that what Tanin charges to fix it is like them working on them for free. Same goes for the climate control. You can not diy the LCD cheaper than tannin charges, unless your time means nothing. If that's the case just spend a few days at your normal job with zero pay then.

Mine does this every now and then. All it takes is a tap on the dash and it works

does the entire cluster go out, or just the needles drop to zero? i would double check all the connections first, before spending money trying to troubleshoot. do the easy, free stuff first. also check your battery terminals too!
