Hello Club Lexus.Im new to this forum I am also a 08 350z HR owner and I just purchased a 1990 UCF10 in great condition, one owner for $1400 with 134,000+ miles here in Vegas with service history paperwork. love the car especially for the price. I feel like I got a steal.Anyway reading on Lextreme.com someone mentioned that a few guys would run a Toyota Celsior ECU on the early LS400 for a mild cheap boost in performance because it doesn't have all the smog/pollution gear (ECU controlled) and has different fuel mapping etc and produces a bit more grunt. Is this true?Does anyone have any information on this?I can obtain a Celsior ECU right now for about $100 or so from a friend of mine here in town.Thx

I don't know about pollution control, but I do know that Celsiors have different gear ratios than LS 400s that increase acceleration, but decrease top speed.
Maybe a member here has swapped a USDM ECU for a JDM ECU, but I would personally leave it alone. If the one in your 1990 LS works just fine, it's better to not mess with it. I don't know this, but Celsior ECUs may have a few other minor differences that could mess with your car - again, I can't confirm this. However, I do know that when swapping LS 400 ECUs, you need to get a matching TRAC or non-TRAC ECU for your car that is also within certain model year ranges.
