Decoding the Inspection sticker
Greetings,
I have been curious about this for a while. In the attached image of a VIN sticker from a 1st-generation LS 400, I have underlined the part that says No. 416. Does anyone know what this stands for?
I have searched for this previously, but I have always found explanations for the VIN on it instead.
Please note, this inspection sticker is not from my car, so I have crossed off the VIN. This is from a car that was listed for sale a few months ago.
Thank you,
CELSI0R

First its not an inspection sticker, its the certification registration label or something like that. That number could be the production unit number for that month? Its a Perl white car.

I mean it is car number 416 made the month of 06/91. Yeah its a guess of sorts, I know one of mine has a low 2 digit number. I would like to know if there are higher numbers than one hundreds place? I need to check that number on the rest of them.

I decided to call it an inspection sticker in this thread, since they also scan it when I take the car in for emissions testing.
I haven't seen a sticker with a number beyond the hundreds place myself.

I forgot to add that we do know what most else of the door tag means.
C/TR refers to the color and trim (interior) tags from factory. In this case, 051 (Diamond White pearl) and LA05 ("Dark Tan")
A/TM refers to the axle type/gear (not consistent among all toyotas sadly) and transmission model (is consistent).
Also, there's no point in hashing through the VIN number if you leave the barcode (that is just the vin) visible, FYI.

You're right regarding the VIN and the barcode. My intention was to make for an extra step of figuring it out.. If anyone was really that curious.
