Default First post and first Lexus today! 95 LS400

Hey guys,

I recently bought a 95 Lexus LS400 for 3000 dollars. I probably overpaid but it was a much better car than most I test drove at that price. I was just looking a car, sick of driving my massive work truck when I have to go Chicago or other bigger cities!

Here's some pictures! http://m.imgur.com/a/RoEaU

No service records and from what I read it's a good idea to replace my timing belt/water pump now. I'm going to have to get shocks/struts and all that taken care off sooner or later as well. It kinda clunks when you roll over a speed bump with the window down.

Overall I'm really happy with the car! Runs and drives smooth, plenty of power.. Seems like a nice highway car.

Has anyone removed that obnoxious Carphone?

I'll be searching and posting on this forum quite a bit, Thanks!

Some day those cell phones will be worth many thousands of dollars. Kinda like some old junk computers of the past.

The driver side timing cover is very easy to remove in order to check the condition of the timing belt.

Check the o ring under the PS reservoir for leaks.

Let me know if you figure out the clunks in the front end I have the same issue.

I had those clunks when i first bought the car. It can be one of two things: either your strut rod bushings are bad, or your sway bar end links and sway bar bushings are worn.

My strut rod was replaced by the previous owner so I knew it wasn't that. But when I went to inspect everything else, I could literally move the front sway bar from side to side, sure enough, new bushings to hold the bar in place and end links did the trick. Oreilly auto has the sway bar links for a good price, 15.99 i think and the bushings aren't too expensive, 15-20 bucks.

Welcome to the club. And they are very nice highway cars as well as great all around cars. Proper maintenance and care will help keep it on the road a long time.
Congratulations.
