Hey guys hope you all are doing great...so my radio recently stopped working and the only solution was to find a replacement. My old radio had the wood trim on it and i kinda liked it and so i carried out the operation of removing the wood trim lol. Now my question is can i apply goo gone to remove the old gunk or is it just going to ruin the piece? Thanks
I have not done it yet, but on the driver side window control I was planning on using some clear epoxy to glue it back on, I don't think the normal glue would hold to long. Maybe others here have done it and tried various things. You will likely need to clean the other glue or tape or what ever it is they used.
On real wood I would not suggest Goo Gone. The chemical residue will be absorbed and may discolor the trim piece as well as making it difficult to use an adhesive for future application. It's been a while so I'm not sure of aftermarket supplies for the trim.
Or, something else of that general nature may be helpful...either way you'd have to do some scrubbing on some very delicate pieces.
Going to be a labor of love I think.
