Which diesel engine to put in my LS400 1999.
I want to fit a turbo diesel engine to my ls400, 1999. Which engine will fit the gearbox and engine mounts with least adjustments, the bigger the engine the better.

We need to know first. How fast do you want it to go any steep hills to climb etc.? What kind of fuel mileage are you looking for?
The easiest fit will be a small 4 cylinder engine so you have room to fabricate the mounts and you will of course have to have a machine shop make an adapter for the transmission. The best part of this swap will be a very easy to change starter motor.

Dumbest idea ever imo. The stock 1uz-fe with the improved VVTi and 5 speed automatic make for a much faster, better shifting car.
If you just want a donkey **** diesel to blow black smoke and go drag racing, stick with a Cummins 5.9 ISB inline six, usually found under the hood of Dodge Ram trucks.

Agri Diesel in Ireland here is about 70c a litre where as Petrol or Gas as you guys call it is abut 120c a litre.
I thought they used the A341 transmission in shoguns and pajero's as well as the LS400, would engines from these bolt into the LS400.

I didn't see that you were in Ireland, where I'm sure the fuel economy on the LS is eating you out of house and home.
Have you thought about doing an LPG conversion? I know that's what a lot of people do with their petrol V8's over in Europe. I know for Land Rovers they make some pretty neat kits where the tank mounts in place of the spare tire, so you don't have a big tank taking up all your trunk room. Might want to look into it for your Lexus, as IMO a loud, clattery, smelly diesel wouldn't make it a Lexus anymore. That smooth, quiet, fast V8 is what the car is all about.
If you are serious about doing a diesel conversion, I'd be thinking about swapping out the engine from a Prado or Land Cruiser, at least keep it all Toyota.

If the price of gas is tough on you, then the cost of doing a full engine/ecm swap (diesel or anything else) is going to hurt even worse in the pocket book. 2nd the LPG option or just trade it for the car you really need.
