"needs a little work" haha Condition: (good, fair, excellent) SALVAGE Drive: 4WD. Is this not "four wheel drive?" Paint: GREY. Looks white to me. But it does have the highly coveted 'two different back seat colors" you just don't see enough anymore. You can also tell the demographic one is catering to when one puts an automobile up for sale. At least make the car appear better than it actually is, not treat it like a dirty clothes hamper and Mc Donald's trash can. I'm sure for the price you get to keep the shredded seat cover and pine tree air freshener. |

Yeah its the one posted above. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5677684772.html So here is one that needs a little fixing http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/cto/5657968160.html Just wow for price and condition. And just a bit of minor damage, I'm sure it could look like new after a days of waxing it. http://lewiston.craigslist.org/cto/5671012227.html |

Here is one in good drivable condition. What a deal? I wonder how much was put into this one? Its the bent fender openings that really are attractive, just sooooo cool. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5648626355.html |
The whole classic/value thing really is a wait and see thing. With zero aftermarket it is going to be hard to gain any interest in fixing these cars so they'll be VIP'd, slammed, or whatever. Now finding one and maintaining it may become for popular but only time will tell. My son will keep the '92 and sell it in a couple of years. I promised him if he stays on pace in school I'll buy him a older skyline (his dream car). I've been checking a site for a dealer up in Virginia called Japaneseclassics.com and they have some interesting cars. Some cool 4 door luxury cars as well that seem to sell. With the younger crowd that loves imports starting to grow up maybe we'll see a shift in what is getting worked on. It's already happening though. Sitting next to my '75 Malibu is his 76 Celica getting ready for import alliance next year.

While we're on the topic of paint, this car isn't on Craigslist, but it looks very odd with a smoothed bumper:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-LS-Whi...-/302045435272 It's also overwhelmingly white from a full respray. The main thing that caught my eye was the passenger side fog light. It looks like the inner parts of the light corroded, or something of the sort.. Very odd.

I can show you 4 older LS's that are way better paint wise than that. Look at post #24 and that was a $1000 car driver fender was fixed at one time rest is factory paint. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...my-90-a-2.html |
I can't even tell the difference in paint on that car. Looks like a perfect match.

Nobody is going to do an $8000 paint job on a car like that lol. It's going to be Maaco or driven as is. What more do you want for a $2800 car?
And Celsior in real life not a picture its not a perfect match. Of my cars that is the worse one body wise it has a few little dings here and there and a few clear coat bird poo spots etched in. |

Somebody will buy that car for way more than $600 lol I can understand passing on this car for one with better paint if that's important to you, what I don't understand is the surprise and frustration displayed when someone has the audacity to sell a car in this condition. It's a really old Car, most people don't expect perfect paint when they buy a car this old and this cheap. |
Old car fine, sell it for an old car price. Old beaters are way less than almost $3000. you can find a real good 94 LS for 2000 I see lots of them and all the paint is shiny and good looking.

Anyways, make the guy an offer. I'm sure you can buy that car for less than the $2,800 he has it listed for. I just don't understand why this bothers you so much. |

On the 1K car, the driver seat has some spots other wise pretty good inside.

Dicers deal of the day

Clearly the car has no value because it doesn't have the original head unit lol
In fact, they should pay you to take it. |

And SW15LS your right, if wires are cut and what else is been done? In fact if I were buying something like this and indented to drive it a good bit I would replace the radio to get Bluetooth, nav, etc. Plus after 27 years I'm sure the original speakers, which weren't high quality to start, are shot. |

I was being funny. I don't consider the radio replacement an issue at all in a car like this lol

What? Everything in an LS is top quality. "Pursuit of perfection" you know.
I've owned three LS's spanning multiple generations. Yes the cars are very high quality, very well built and well cared for they really do stay enjoyable to drive and own for many years longer than other cars, but nothing lasts forever and the speakers in these audio systems are pretty typical auto OEM quality, which isn't very good. New speakers, a new amp, and a modern headunit with nav, bluetooth audio streaming, satellite radio, etc is a very nice useful upgrade to a car like this. |
Paper what else is there? I'm not a sound system person. And yes have seen the speakers they look like a speaker to me.

In short, they don't last forever and age is not their friend. |
The speaker quality could have been better, but it's not terrible. The rear subwoofer is the worst in terms of wear over time, mainly due to its position right under the rear windshield. The direct path for UV light along with the heat in the cabin of the car deteriorates them.
I just restored mine last year. Not fun, because the housing did not provide a lot of room, but it worked. |

Just a recommendation for you, since your car has a working rear sub as well. I recommend keeping a car sun shade (those aluminum reflective ones) in the trunk, and putting it over the subwoofer area when the car is parked outside for extended periods of time.

|
Okay, that ones bad lol
|
Oh, my.. That car definitely needs some work done. I wonder how much stress that strap is putting on the panels to hold the front together.
