Need some help - P1500 and P1600
Hello everyone. Im having a little trouble with my LS 400. It will only go into gear and actually move under its own power 1 or 2 times 3 if I'm lucky. after that nothing unless it sits for 30 minutes then the same thing occurs. Checked codes and P1500 and P1600 starter signal to ecu and low voltage to PCM so I am fairly capable of doing basic mechanical and electrical repairs. If anybody has come across this problem and have had good luck in fixing this problem I would love to hear from you. Thanks

You didn't tell us what year, to have OBD2 codes its a 95 and newer. And first thing to do is disconnect the battery and while its like that clean all the terminals real good.
Unplug and replug fuses, and connectors, check the ground points. Maybe have it up on ramps when doing this so you can check the connectors to the transmission and the main ground wire, loosen and retighten it. When its running check the voltage at the battery terminals. Tell us what it is. Do you have a power steering leak?

My bad on the lack of info. It is a 95 and I have actually never driven the car. I picked it up for 400$ in its current condition, but know the car and its previous owners. I will do some investagating, and your suggested testing and electrical connection cleaning, but Im sure that anything that can leak is leaking. The engine runs good and it moved under its own power just days before i purchased it. I know its a Lexus and they are reliable , but I must confess the car has 456k miles but always been kept up on its service. I originally intended to just use the car for................don't hate..............its motor for an engine swap. I have realized that this is a pretty amazing car and if it can be fixed without spending a small fortune I should. anyways thanks for your help I'm truly greatful.

Engine swap? I sure wouldn't have looked for a high mileage engine for that. I'd find a low miles JDM engine from one of those engine places, which I have done before for other make of cars and had good luck. That is a bunch of miles, yeah they can go the miles but still, hours are hours on something. At least you got it for a reasonable price.
