Question How many piston on 1st gen brake caliper and what is the BEST brake pads for 1st gen?

How many piston on the front brake caliper of a 1st gen LS400? My car's braking power is so bad compare to my RX-7 and 97 ES300. Is there anybody upgraded their brake pads and have a great improvement of braking power(1st gen LS400)? Someone told me the 1st gen LS400 braking power is so weak and that is normal, is that true? I am going to get someone check the brake system for me next week, if there is no problem then I will try to change the brake pads. Any suggestion? Thanks for replying!

Good observation!

1990-1991 cars had single piston (argg!!) calipers and the thinnest rotors of the LS series. <<--They SUCK!

1992 had slightly wider rotors and (as described by most online car review sites,) had "improved braking feel"

1993-1994 had dual piston calipers and once again, wider rotors.

I COULD be wrong about the dual piston in 1993. It might of been added in 1992.

Thanks for telling me.
I haven't taken off the caliper yet to check. But looking through the rims, it seems the 92 has dual piston claiper. If the 92 has dual caliper, will it been the same as 93 and 94 caliper othere than the rotor?
If I upgarde the caliper from 92 to 93/94, is that possible? Will it improve braking power? Thanks again!

Let's get the story straight. Only the 90LS has single piston calilber. The rest has dual pistons.

Thanks!
For the minium cost, what do you suggest me to upgrade the braking power? Upgrading the brake pads? EBC or Hawk or Wilwood or other brand?
