Drink Spill What issues to expect?
I was parked at work getting my things together to get out the car. I had a large drink fall from the cup holder into the arm rest storage bucket I got about half of it with towels but a lot of it drained out through the seam around the power port. What kind of electrical issues am I looking at here? I removed the arm rest lower section and the center cover to try and see which way the liquid drained it looks to have run toward the backseat area.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

what kind of drink was spilled? if water, and nothing else was affected, then you are good. soda, coffee, or anything sticky could cause long term issues with the movement of things. there really isn't many sensitive electronics under there other than the cig lighter so worse thing is that you short a fuse. what I am most worried is if it spilled near on onto the shifter which has many solenoids and moving parts.

There are several electronics devices such as
pattern select switch (normal-snow),
transmission control switch 2-L,
transmission control switch D-4,
shift lock switch,
shift lock solenoid,
shift lock solenoid controller.
Also all those use connectors.
Depending on the amount and the conductivity of the spilled liquid, you may have problem(s) related to those.

I would pull out the center console and just clean up underneath it, then just take it from there and see if anything gums up. Pretty much every car I have ever owned has some sort of eco-system looking nastiness under the center console, so the chances are good that most cars have a drink spilled inside of them at some point in their lives without many detrimental effects.
