Is the TIS and Factory Manual (Book) is the same? I have PDF of 00 LS400 from someone but its very lacking even to remove my car's dash. I need to make a lot of intuition to do it. Given the age of the car and flat $100/h labor for any shop that has tools. I am willing to spend $$ and get a used manual. Can you or some forum member post me about the manual?
I have the 2x+1 phone book Lexus manuals for my '91. Also have a 1300 page, 23 MB manual for 2000, which seems pretty close to the same format and content as my '91. In fact I sometimes will PDF search that 2000 manual to find stuff, and then go check in the corresponding sections for my '91 phone book manuals to get the exact info I need.
So do you have something else?

Can you be clearer about what you already have and what about it is lacking?

So I'll guess you and I have the same 23 MB file. I don't know what the TIS looks like. But like I said above, to me, that 23 MB PDF is pretty much what the phone book printed manuals have. I have, Vol 1, Vol 2, and Electrical Wiring Diagrams, in printed phone book form for my '91.
BTW, on some of the comments above regarding how some manuals are becoming less instructive ... the manual for my newer Porsche has taken that to a whole new level. There are lots of diagrams (not photos) and it seems they are trying to minimize the number of words. So they're taking it to the extreme. I expect the trend to continue. Like many things, they're trying to make it so a cat with an iPhone can function in this world.
My guess is that with Porsches sold in countries with so many languages, and even in those countries, mechanics may not be easily able to read in something that may not be their native language (e.g., a native Spanish speaker/reader here in the USA). And also, so much of the content is related to following the automatic debugging procedures and following prescribed steps, replacing parts and assemblies, all while minimizing the amount of thought, understanding, and reading required.
So rather than giving background theory, discussing common issues, and then providing a list of procedures to follow, they tell you to plug in, etc.
Kind of takes all the fun out of it for me at that point. Still useful, but really requires more knowledge coming in. I guess to be provided with experience, google, or clublexus, etc.
