Default LS400 1997 160k miles

Just wondering what people think about purchasing a 1997 ls400? The guy selling it says it only needs an emergency brake cable to certify. Should valve adjustment be done on the engine soon at. 160k miles? Or any other major repairs/maintenance . Hoping not to have any hefty bills are repairs to do myself in the next while. He wants 3000$ US dollar for it.

tell him fix the cable and you will buy it.. it will need strut rod bushings if he has not done them

If you can, try to find a 98+ model year. The advancements Lexus did over my 97' would be worth the extra money I think.

You get 30hp more in the VVTi V8, 5spd vs. 4spd transmission for better fuel economy, wood grain wheel option, more modern cleaner design front end, and a few other electronic interior advancements that are nice (fuel economy display)

I drive a 97 Coach Edition as a daily driver. It's one sweet ride! Mine has 114,000 and is a peach. Sounds like a good deal. Just get ready for some pretty lackluster fuel economy. Other than that, I've not one complaint.

Too much for a fixer, unless the body and paint and interior are 10 of 10.
