You do not need to open the foglight. You need to take off the HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (includes headlight, foglight and black plastic bracket that holds it all together) and separate your foglamp from it. Very easy i might add.

So would doing this be a major improvement if I just kept stock bulbs in there? I need to save money to fix my A/C before buying PIAA bulbs. About how much time does this take to do?

this is how it looks after disassembling the foglight unit. retrodrive was right on the two screws and it was very easy. 
i thought it would have been a big piece of glass like a replacement strobe lens, but it was something small. well i didnt want to ruin the oem yellow foglight casing so i decided to make my own casing to block direct light to oncoming cars.

OK. I see some confusion here. The best way to do it is take out the fog lights (have to take out whole assembly...need a howto?) and you will see that the part with the yellow glass is held in by 2 screws. You can remove the screws, take out the yellow glass part with a metal frame it sits on and brake it outside of your fog light (so no glass stays inside). Then put the frame back in and you will have your clear light.

What about using a heat gun? I think you guys have convinced me to do this. Should I take pics for a how to on this? It seems easy enough but hey, it may be good to have a guide.
