ecu question

one of my lexus which is a 95ls400, im assuming it has a bad ecu, yet the ecu in it is from another 95ls400, i want to know the part number of my original ecu so i can get a replacement. If i provide the dealership my vin will they give the part number of the ecu i have.

The part number your car was built with will differ from the part number the dealer will give you. The dealer will give you an updated number to an ECM that was made way after production ended. The 95's and some early 96's had software that would allow the engine to die when exiting highway off ramps after extended drives. The logic and part number was updated along the way to fix issues like these.
There is a list of part number somewhere around here on the newest ECM for your car. I wouldn't bother with an early number. Out resident ECM expert is Yamae. He is to thank for all of the phenomenal info on the ECM's on these cars over the years. Look for pretty much anything that he had posted and you'll get good info.
