Default How to remove the ECM

I have a 1996 LS 400. I'm trying to remove the ECM to have it refurbished. I removed the glove box and disconnected the bolts for the lower mounting bracket of the ECM unit. But I do no know how the access the mounting bolts for the upper bracket. Do I need to remove the CD player box above the glove box in order to access the bracket mounting nuts?

No, you can access the last fastener with the upper storage compartment and CD changer installed. There is one more fastener up top, a nut I think. It's sort of hidden behind a relay up there. There is an angled bracket that holds the relay. Remove that bracket and you'll see the last nut. I find it best to leave the ECM on the bottom studs and slip it off the top stud first.

Ensure your battery is disconnected through all this and remove the brackets from the module before sending it off.

Thank you Banshee365. I was able to access the top nuts and remove ECM. Sent it out to be refurbished today. Fingers crossed that it fixes my engine problems.
