Default Could anybody tell me what this is?

Had a mechanic working on my car on and off for the last 4 months. Couldnt get a commitment from him to finish, so I moved on. I will be attempting to finish up the work myself. Can anybody tell me what this part is? Thanks in advance.

little back story- bought a 99 ls400 with 216k, lots of maintaince was needed.

That is one of the two supports that stabilizes the fore and aft rigidity of the front cross member. The round end slides over the lower control arm bolt that enters from the crossmember from the rear.

Many thanks, I just got the upper control arms on, and will be moving onto the lower next. I'll read up on the location you've described.

You'll need the nuts to install those supports. One nuts may be threaded on the lower control arm bolt but the other has no where else to fasten without that support installed. Time to head to a junkyard!

Thanks- was able to make pretty good progress on it today and did figure out where that part went The passenger side is almost back to other. The drivers side is a another story:/ the bolt that holds the the strut mount to to the lower control arm is striped and the lCA will have to be rethreaded.

I was just thinking and I misspoke I think. The lower control arm bolt inserts from the front but has a stud on the head of it for that support.

Yeah, it goes from the front side of the LCA to the subframe. I looked at for an hour trying to figure it out then when back to the computer-Found a Video in YouTube of the LCA removal and was able to pinpoint it. You had me in the right area, so thank you. it took for ever to figure all the bolting out since everything was in a box and I didn't dismantle it. I started out by running all the bolting through a buddies parts washer to help make it a little easier to ID things. It did help some😂

Nola,
I am part way through a front end overhaul myself. I have the upper control arm/ ball joints coming this week. Were those pretty easy to do? Seems simple enough the diy tutorial I looked at.

Then one lower ball joint left to do and wondering if I should swap out the lower control arms also, but I heard they are not prone to failure.

Let me know how it drives a freeway speed when you are done.

Uppers weren't bad. Separate the ballpoint from the knuckle then remove the two bolts.
I replaced my lCA's; there was a good bit of play in the bushings. Rather do it now than have to tear it back apart and since I did new front bearings, it seemed like a no-brainer for me. Plus my car was driven in New Orleans, so I'm sure they were needed good luck on your replacement! Once I get it aligned I'll update you on the ride.

Thanks man! I dig the color too. The new wheels make a world of difference, hopping the ride quality won't suffer any from the 18's.
