Heater and defroster not working
Okay, I know it's summer but I've waited for much warmer weather before dealing with this. My '93 LS stopped kicking out heat this winter along with the rear defroster not thawing the buildup. I had hoped it was the climate control unit, but just installed donor unit with same results. When it started acting up, the heat output was intermittent, sometimes blazing hot, other times warm.
On a side note, the unit always switches to air condition whenever it is turned on, no matter what venting switch is on and how high a temp is selected.
Hope someone has some advice, thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. Regarding the flow control valve, the arm on mine is moving freely at each temperature adjustment. So do I assume it's okay or can it still be at fault. No codes were generated using the climate control method. Spent the last three hours searching Lexus heater issues, a lot of focus on the various servos, not certain which way to go.
Can someone explain a feature on the climate control. Whenever it's turned on, the ac light comes on, no matter what the temp is set on. Back when it was heating, I'd manually turn off the ac switch. I assume this function is standard since multiple donor climate control units have done the same. Am I in error by turning it off, does the unit automatically switch between air and heat when the ac switch left on. As I recall, the heat output was marginal, compared to when the switch is off. Either way, I'm not getting heat no matter what position the switch is at.
