99 LS400 Steering Wheel Tilt Not Working
The battery in my 1999 LS400 had to be replaced. Since then, the steering wheel has been in the uppermost tilt position and the tilt function will not work. When the switch is pressed to tilt the wheel, a slight click is heard but there are no other sounds such as grinding gears, etc. The telescope function works and the memory seats and mirrors all return to their saved position. I removed the shroud to access the motor but the set-up is different from those found in instructional videos and pics. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Mechanic told me to take it to a steering column repair shop and get them to center it down and leave it. New motor is $$ but I haven't looked aftermarket yet.

Lead Lap
The following thread has three TISBs about the tilt/telescope that I uploaded a long time ago. At least one has a diagram showing the mechanism.
