Great information here, thank you all so much! Had the service done and she still runs great. But then again it did run great before I dropped it off too I had them change the spark plugs as well, as my free time these days is limited. Shop was great and did great work. Said everything looks great on the car.

Thanks again for all your help and advise here. I appreciate your willingness to help and share your advice. Here's to the next 100k!

I'll be tackling the timing belt/water pump on my 98 LS400 soon on my own and currently debating if I should replace the cam seal or not. Cam seal replacement is a whole another process since I will have to take the wholecam shafts out due to VVTI engine and there seems to be too many ways I can screw up the engine.

Wolfy53, did the shop replace the cam seal as well? How much did they charge you for the whole thing, if you don't mind me asking.

I did not have them do the cam seals, due to the VVTI. They said everything looked great. They did the crank seal. I paid right $500 for the work. I brought all my own parts, Toyota OEM parts. The reason i decided not to do the cam seals now was cost and they showed zero signs of leaking. If you do that then as you know you have to remove the cam, which means new valve cover gaskets, and so on and so forth.

Very happy with their work. I took it to an independent shop that specializes in Lexus. They did a great job, at what I would consider a good price. Cheaper isn't always the best.

Thanks wolfy53 for quick reply. That info was helpful and I'm leaning towards not messing with the cam seal for now.
