I wouldn't go that route. Lexus marketed this car for its smoothness, ever see the coin balancing commercial? The hydraulic fluid filled mounts play a big role in that.
If you search Bell Lexus online, you can pick two of them up off their ebay store for $238 for the pair. It was a night and day difference in my 97 w/ 275k. I can't even feel any engine vibrations upon startup anymore, its completely isolated from the cabin.

my old mounts were broken in two pieces, but gave me no indication they were "bad" I could just tell by seeing the movement of the engine when testing. and I used fluid filled mounts to replace them off ebay and have had no vibration or bad results from them... I am 83 and move slower than most..

Do you feel any vibration with those after market mounts fitted on your car?
I bought a pair on EBay and they advertised lifetime warranty, stating that the mounts contain hydraulic fluids.
I would hate to install those after market mounts and later discover that the car vibrates. I intend to install them on Sunday. I am in Englewood NJ so if any of you DIY professional live close by and wish to help me with that job I will be willing to REWARD you.

On Sunday I had my aftermarket $46.00 engine mount installed on my almost 20-year old LS400. I don't think it is sensible to spend $300 on a pair of engine mounts on a car that old when there are so many manufacturers selling comparable hydraulics filled m prices as low as $30.00
My engine is steady when on high RPM, no shaking, no vibration and no other issue apparent thus far. My original mounts were badly damaged......the rubber were almost completely separated from the metal.
I think we need to consider that technology and competition have improved/increased over the last two decades so I strongly believe that a few manufacturers are producing parts that are comparable to and sometimes may be better than the OEM parts.
That's my opinion but I am subject to correction and open for debate over this issue.

I forgot to state that I paid $320.00 to have the engine mounts replaced on my 1998 LS 400 which has 130,000 miles thus far.

I've been old school where past experiences with varying third party parts have left me doing the replacement drill sooner than the "lifetime warranty" would have one believe. My belief in do it right the first time saves the time and money and the Toyota part has the known reputation. Agree that the cost factor is a consideration so that is a YMMV. For ours I went with the Toyota part.
