Default Whirring noise

So my 95 ls400 was K.O.'d for about 3 months and I had to replace the air compressor and starter. Unfortunately the compressor purchase was broken so we omited it. The start just got put on today and I drove it to the local Jack in the box around the corner, when I got home and killed the car it was making a whirring noise, I was like "whatever" so I tried starting the car back up and it wouldn't click or grind or anything. Now I'm thinking the batterys dead after sitting for a bit but the lights and everything work just fine. I need help.

Sounds like your starter was stuck on. The solenoid might have had it. If it was while the engine was running it could be a pulley.

after hours of research and what not I found out that it's a 50/50 chance that it's the battery or the starter solenoid. When daylight comes around in a few hours I'll go outside and tap the starter a few times and if that doesn't work I'll test the battery.

Yep, I dont understand all your post, but you need to take the starter back off and test it OR have it tested.. I agree the solenoid might have stuck in the flywheel.

Can you get to the starter to tap it ? I thought it was pretty well out of the way.

oh it's way down there. In the intake manifold but with a long enough screw driver I should be able to reach it
