I didnt want to be stranded with a bad alternator eventually. When you remove the valve, a good amount of P/S fluid drips down and runs onto the alternator. Bad design flaw by Toyota...putting it underneath the P/S pump.

Default Air control valve did not fix white smoke issue

I replaced my air control valve and fuel pump when I lost powersteering and white clouds of atf would pour out of the exhaust on startups. However after replacing them I do have powersteering with no noticable leaks but white clouds of atf still exit the exhaust on startups. It has been a couple weeks since I replaced the parts. I thought it might just be leftover atf in the intake but I would think it would have all burned off by now.

The pump he points to around the 2 min mark is a dummy/idler pump with no fluid so it wouldn't matter.
(There may be fluid in it to keep the internals happy but it's not under hydraulic pressure.)

MetaPat,
It depends on the bolt you choose but you'll find out real quick if you need a washer or not...
