I sold my good friend a 2000 LS, he has only had 1 Lexus, a 96 LS, and I helped him buy it also. I have had 13 LS's.. Love them..
BUT: I have never turned a Lexus radio on, if fact any radio in over 25 years.. maybe 30... I am a thinker and dont need the noise...
but my friend wants to know WHERE the AMP is: under pass. seat, trunk or where also dosent know NAK or Pioneer? and before I can find this, he wants "white" lights, some of his are "yellow" inside and outside..
if any of you have any answers, I will be happy to pass them on..

All jokes aside, my 98 had the pioneer amp, it's under the passenger seat.

not sure about my 99. I would imagine it being a similar spot 98-00. The 00 might have the NAK soundsystem though.

Just gotta unbolt the passenger seat, and unplug the side airbag and/or battery. Not hard to do at all, plus you should find some trash and other goodies that have fallen down there over the years.

- Introduction of the completely redesigned Second Generation LS400 Series III.
- Basically the second gen LS is bigger, slightly more powerful, and a new design all around. Since it was completely redesigned pretty much everything looks different on both the interior and exterior. Take a look at the pictures above to note these changes. I will list some less visible differences below....
- The 1UZ-FE engine was improved in several areas. Headers were changed from the single type to semi-dual type for better exhaust flow.
- Bigger and better brakes. The front brakes were changed from a single-sided 2-piston type to an opposed-cylinder 4-piston type.
- A few suspension improvements.
- LS400 emblem added to the trunk.
- Body is more rigid and made of anti-corrosion steel.
- More sound deadening to further reduce engine and road noise.
- The power tilt and power telescopic steering column became standard.
- 4-headlight system.
- Light auto turn-off system now standard.
- Automatic light control system became standard.
- Headlight cleaner became standard on Canadian models.
- Vehicle-speed sensing control was added to the intermittent wiper with an adjustable time function.

- VVT-i (variable valve timing-intelligent) system and the ACIS (acoustic control induction system) was adopted in the 1UZ-FE engine to improve fuel economy, improve performance, and reduce emissions. ETCS-i (electronic throttle control system) was also added to ensure excellent controllability of the vehicle and improve its comfort. Worlds first production V8 engine with VVT-i.
- 290 hp @ 6000 rpm and 300 ft-lbs of torque @ 4000 rpm.

2000
- Three tether anchor brackets for mounting the CRS (child restraint system) are provided.
- ORVR (on-board refueling vapor recovery) system was added to the engine.

This will work for any make or model subwoofer lexus offers.

Go find/borrow/buy an electric glue gun or heavy duty bathroom tub/tile 100% silcone clear caulk (home depot or lowes).
I prefer the glue gun. Pull off or pry with screw driver or puddy knife the subwoofer top grill where you suspect the noice is coming from. Inspect the cone around the speaker. lightly push down on the speaker's outside cone edge. you will find using a flash light and a good pair of reading glasses will help. Observer that in almost all cases the speaker will be torn around the outside edge. This is the weakest part of the factory subwoofer. Mine was torn for about 2 inches along the edge and was very hard to see tear. Take your glue gun, insert glue stick and let it warm up. Now go all the way around the entire outside edge of the speaker cone with glue meeting outside edge with the foam part of the speaker, cover the paper part of the speaker from the form part of the cone to the outside wall of the speaker. Fix any other tears with the glue gun.
Push the speaker cover back on and it will be as good if not better then new.

the radio will be marked Nakamichi on the face of the bezel. if it is not marked anything it is Pioneer.
the amp is under the pass seat behind a vent cover, for both Nak and Pioneer.
