1998/99 LS400 Whats the diff?
Hey guys,
I'm shopping around for a Lex... Looking at GS4 or LS4...
I have few questions. You guys mention Gen 1,2,3...what years did Lexus make changes to the
LS400 besides introducing the LS430?
What the best year? I'm looking at 1998 or 99.
Anything in particular to look out for when buying the car?
I'm gonna keep the car stock besides changing the rims.
What the stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile?
Thanks alot!

I believe 98 is the first year of the VVT-I 4.0 Liter engine w/ 290hp. 98 and 99 are very similar... 99 has tilt down mirrors when you put the car in reverse. I think the 98 had a wood wheel option and it became standard in 99. I suspect some minor TSBs fixed. Others can chip in on any other differences or correct me if I'm wrong.
My (98) LS is relatively new to me and I haven't done all that much research. Perfectly happy with a 98, no problems so far.
I recall magazine 0-60 for the stock 98 LS was 6.1 seconds and 1/4 is high 14's.
