Anyone have a proffered grand touring tire for the LS?
I need to get 3 new tires for an 2000 LS400 I just bought, and was wondering if anyone has good experience with a quiet tire that handles well. So far Michelin defenders are the front runners, but wanted to see if there are any better options?

Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus. I’ve had three sets on my LS460s, best touring tires out right now IMHO.

Cooper CS5 Grand or Ultra Touring. Best tires I've ever had.
I've had CS4s on my LS for 6 years, and they are perfect in all different kinds of weather conditions; and they also have no dry rot yet (partially attributed to parking in a garage) Road noise is minimal as well. They stopped making CS4s and switched to CS5s, which I had on another car. Still no complaints.
I personally don't recommend Kumho tires. I didn't have a great experience with them, and I only put one on my spare. It was a cheap tire to get me by - that's all.

I liked the Michelin Primacy MXV4 on my old 1LS, the Premier A/S is a nice tire but do be warned it starts out with 8.5/32" of tread compared to the standard of 10/32". It won't matter in the real world, unless you live somewhere where it snows.
The Defender is a more of a standard passenger car tire. I would also look at the General Altimax RT43 - made by Continental and it seems like a good bang for the buck.

I too was a huge fan of the MXV4 but they aren't made any more, the Pirellis I mentioned are the most similar tires to those I have found.

Hey everyone! I finally got new tires all around For the ls. I went with the Michelin premire a/s since they seemed to be the closest to stock. I've had perelli's before on my last car and whike i like them, they scare me in the wet and the ls400 is a big car.
first impressions is that these are very quiet tires, highway road noise is mostly gone! Most of that is fresh tires i imagine, but I'm happy none the less.
thanks for all the replies!
