My 91 with 114k miles had only one. In the headliner behind the driveres head/ My 98 with now 38k miles has Zero and I mean ZERO squeaks or Rattles.
My 99 RX300 with 60k miles also has ZERO squeaks or rattles.
You can not ask for a better built car as far as integrity goes.

My 93 SC400 has no rattles. It's incredible. It also has a lot of miles. The only other car that I've had with this sort of integrity is a 91 MR2 Turbo. Solid as a rock w/ 115k miles. Yay Toyota.

I think this is typical of most (but not all) Toyotas and Lexus'. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry LE V6 (Lexus ES300 twin) and it has 211,000 miles and is still 100% squeak and rattle free, even over big bumps in the road. The 92-96 Camrys seem to be the best built Camrys, especially the interiors. You can really see Lexus-like quality inside the 92-96 Camrys. The dash panel is fully padded, with perfect fitting panels. No uneven gaps. The door panels are also sturdy w/no rattles. I have read that the 97-01 Camrys are good cars as well w/minimal rattles, but I have heard and read a lot of bad reviews about the quality of the newest 2002-2003 Camrys. I have read many complaints of several and severe dash rattles, even on brand new & low mile Camrys, as well as the Tundra. I think they have switched to a mostly hard plastic dash, which may contribute to some of the rattles. Many 2000+ cars have switched to these cheap, mostly plastic dash panels. I am not sure if Lexus put this dash in the newest ES model, but possible, since it is basically a Camry. Hopefully Lexus will never switch to this. My old 91 Honda Accord also had a fully padded dash and had minimal rattles, even at 180,000. My old 87 Camrys were also well built. One of my 87s had 200K and was still 100% rattle free, but the other had 160K and it had a few rattles, but had been poorly cared for by previous owners. My dads 88 Nissan truck has 250K and the dash is still 100% rattle free. I have heard that Honda and Nissan has also slipped in the rattle department since the late 1980s and early 1990s.

I agree with you on the 92-96 camrys. I had a 93 V6 XLE w/ 165k, also rattlefree. The interiors seem to be made to industrial strength standards. Given, my leather was slightly worn. But Ford, GM, Chrysler, or almost any other leather for that matter, wouldn't have stood a chance, IMO. Mercedes' MB tex lasts a lifetime, but it's not leather and it smells funny, not to mention that trampoline-like sitting characteristics. My mother had a 94 XLE 4 cylinder. She got rid of it 2 years ago with 150k (replaced with a 98 ES300). The only problem she had while owning it, was the windshield wipers not working. And even at that, it turned out to be the fuse rattling out of place LOL
. I must say, those 2.2L 4 cylinders were quite the engine. I'm a buyer for dealers here in K.C. occasionally and I feel as though I can count on getting in a camry, no matter how bad it looks, and know that it will start and run smoothly. I did have a 92 XLE V6 with a bad head gasket, and that wasn't an easy repair. And the valve guides seemed to go on the 4's early on. Anyway, I'm rambling. Maybe you can tell how highly I think of toyota products, and camrys in specific. However, my SC4 is certainly keeping up with any of my camry impressions.

We've had a variety of Toyotas in this household from a '68 Corona, 78' Corona, '80 celica, '85 Cressida and the '97 LS4. I have not had a rattle-squeaky car.
The Cressida had been dropped 2" and was reasonably stiff and in the 10 years it had been lowered, the only thing that rattled was the sunroof. It was the shortest lifespan Toyota I've had and gave it up at 180K miles. The Celica has 135K and the rest all went above 200K without any rattles, squeaks and such. Also had an '82 Maxima that went to 260K and that too did not have any body integrity problems. My father's '96 Saturn beginning at 65K miles rattles squeaks with a vengence.

My 93 Camry LE V6 has really suprised me. I would have thought that by 211K, it would have some type of irritating interior noise, but it does not. Even over rough or gravel roads, it is as quiet as a new car. Similar story here with the Cressida. We had a 1981 Toyota Cressida (gave to grandfather couple of months ago to have repaired and sell) that I bought back in 1997. It had about 149K when I bought it. It developed a head gasket leak. Temporarily fixed. It went out again a few years ago. It had 173K when we parked it and before it was parked it too was still 100% rattle free. I would guess was about the highest quality interior car back in 1981, ranking with Mercedes. Too bad the engines on these cars are prone to oil burning and gasket leaks (2.8L inline EFI 6cyl), but it was still a very powerful and smooth running car. Its sad now that you hear complaints about a brand new 2003 Camry w/less than 10K miles with rattles galore. The only issue I noticed with my Camry is that the dash pad is starting to warp around the defroster vents. I guess it is effects from the sun. It is starting to pull away from under the vents. No way to repair I guess aside from replacing the entire pad, which is otherwise perfect. I am not going to bother with changing it though. Hopefully it will not warp too bad. My old 94 Lumina had warped severly bad around the defrost vent. My moms 98 Oldsmobile is also starting to warp around the passenger airbag. I have also seen this happen on some early 90s LS400s just above the center vents.
