Unhappy Urgent transmission pan help

Hello y'all,

Name's Conrad and I am the proud owner of a 1995 Lexus LS400. It was a gift from my grandfather since he had health complications that prevent him from driving ever again.

I did a once around of the car and noticed that the transmission fluid pan is leaking. It is leaking because rust made a hole form in it.

Now I've been scrouring the internet for a month or so trying to find a replacement, and they are nowhere to be found. I searched and searched and searched until it dawned on me to look up the transmission model number and find equivalents.

Sure enough, the A340E transmission is used in a plethora of vehicles! Ranging from Toyota, Lexus, to even a Volvo.. So, my question is.. Could I use a toyota pan and be done with it?

I know that not all parts are interchangeable. Some are FWD, RWD, 4WD, whatever. So you can't go around swapping transmissions all ***** nilly, but aren't the body's/housings/casing (Whatever a transmission is called) the same? Wouldn't the pan be the one part that they all have in common?

PLEASE PEOPLE! I NEED THIS ANSWER SO BAD!

Not sure if you are limiting the search to a used pan or not but a new one is not prohibitively expensive... $132
Here's a link- https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.c...510650020.html

I'm sure there are used transmissions out there but finding someone who will sell just the pan may be tough, as you know, it's an essential part of the trans.

Thank you very much for the site!

Here's the deal though, I'm from the Great White North and it will not allow me to purchase it. I have a shipping location within the US, but since my billing location is in Canada, it wants me to make a minimum purchase of like, 100000$...

Got any plan Bs?

Just do a Google search with the part number. I just did and there are tons of sellers, even Ebay, with prices lower than Lexus of S Atl.
Or call the Lexus dealer in your area...?

I must be super unlucky or just dumb. I've been googling that number over and over and only get links to gaskets and plugs! I'll keep looking, thank you for everything though!

Take it off and find someone that can weld a patch over the problem area. It could also be soldered or brazed as well. Even in a pinch a person could JB Weld a patch on it.
I have JB Welded parts that are in constant oil bath and it survives just fine.
Oh and clean up all the rusty parts under the car you possibly can, and get some paint on them, trans pans are usually painted pretty good so it must have scraped on something or gone in a ditch and taken paint off to cause that sort of rust damage. Just make sure nothing else under there is rusting away.
