mounts that are no longer available?
Just a quick question.
What do you guys do when you can no longer get replacement mounts for your older vehicles?
For example, my 89 Celsior (Lexus 90-94) needs replacement steering rack mounts (the ones that go through the rack and secure the rack to the vehicle).
I cant find them anyway, an I'm now left with only one choice that I can see. I'll have to turn them up from a block of some form of rubber or harder material.
This is kinda OK for me as I have access to a metalworking Lathe. This makes it cheaper for me than actually buying the rubber mounts, but its a real hassle. And not everyone has that option. What do you guys do?
It looks like the guy who had my car before me tried to laminate some reinforced rubber together but that failed as all I can see left of that effort is some reinforcing string.
Is there a go-to person you guys use who fabricates up the mounts for a reasonable price?
I know that going to a local engineering shop here in Australia and asking for something like this to be made leaves you feeling like they bent you over the nearest bench and didn't even use lube!
(sorry for the visual, but its true enough, a least in Australia).
Thanks in advance.

Western Australia, just south of Perth (Kwinana).
I see your in Qld.
Nice state. Very pretty. I usually go over there every few years usually for more training (I'm a Naturopath).
