A towing package was available in other world regions for the 2000 LS400 with its components marked in the Toyota parts lists as being for "MIDDLE S.AMERICA OR W(TOWING PACKAGE)".

The radiator for the 2000 LS400 I drove for 11 years is part number 16403-50131. The 2000 LS400 radiator part number for ""MIDDLE S.AMERICA OR W(TOWING PACKAGE)" is part number 16403-50151.

LS400 with the towing package had an ATF cooler under the radiator but I never noticed or looked to see if my 2000 LS400 had one, i.e. I don't know if all 98-00 LS400 have the ATF cooler or if it was part of the towing package.

I idled the engines of both my 1990 and 2000 LS400 for hours at a time on a number of occasions when it was over 100 degrees and the coolant temperature gauges didn't budge at all off normal. I was a little surprised that my 2000 LS400 had only one electric fan in front of the radiator since my 1990 LS400 had two. The early LS400 sold in Europe never had more than one electric fan in front of the radiator.
Hi. I recently bought a 98 LS400 North American spec. I live in Dubai and it gets to 110-112 here. My car originally had no problem with idling fir hours, but now it’s starts reading 2 bars above the middle, even at night or in a garage.
It’s my first car, and I really want to be happy with it.
I’ve had the water pump changed, thermostat, ECT sensor and another sensor under the battery, and bled the cooling system. Fans work, maybe a bit weak I don’t know. I I blow compressed air onto the condenser fins every time I get the car washed.
Should I change the fan clutch ? Or the radiator?

Cooling is limited to rise above ambient so 110 Fahrenheit is not too far from operating temperature. (A real workout for the Air Conditioner)

Also, a professionally fabricated spacer that fits between the fan bracket and fan clutch assembly which moves the fan more fully within the confines of the fan shroud thereby improving fan efficiency and air drawn through radiator...and condenser.

Compare this with Celsior hydro fan fan and shroud interface...
On information the 1998-2000 Celsior does not require a separate electric fan.

Top view of spacer. (Fan clutch mating side) Machined to precision fit the fan clutch. 20 mm

Spacer fitted to (an old) OEM fan clutch. Longer fan bracket studs will be required. Avilable from McMaster-Carr.

Can produce more.
P.M. me if I can assist further

Towing core is 1.0 inch vs .62 inch for the normal one, trans temp is totally dependent on the fluid used and in my 430 at least (same trans) at 198k miles with no change according to service records had zero varnish or issues. Only a light residue but anything other than early ZFs have that after a few 100000

You can easily run into shifting and wear issues in some of the new 8/10 speeds if the fluid is too cold with Ford trans shifting so hard that they damage themselves in winter if the heater is stuck closed
