Selling my 1994 LS400, what should I expect to make on it?
So I am selling my 1994 LS400 and I'm wondering what I should expect to recieve. Someone offered me $2500 for it. Please let me know if I'm getting a good deal here or not. I personally think its an average deal. Keep in mind that the heater core is not functional, and the new owner plans to replace it. Here is my craigslist ad: https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/d...613217918.html

Going rate and pretty decent. You can try and hold out for another buyer that may offer $2,600 or such but time is money and if you want the turn-over this is an acceptable offer. One of my neighbor's was selling his vintage car and he was set on $35K. There were offers for a bit less, 32, 33...he sold the car for his asking price but it took a full year to do that.

Your price is very fair with all of the new parts.
The interior, paint, and panel fitment is very nice on your car; all of which looks to be factory original (other than the LS 430 rims, which some consider an upgrade). You also put ceramic coating, which is very nice to have.
The only cons I see are the heater core and the higher mileage. $3000 would be the lowest I would go. I would actually list it for $3300, and keep $3000 as my minimum price.
With regards to your offer, $2500 is too low, even though it needs a heater core.. That guy would be getting a steal, because many others for that price are in much worse condition. The only way I would do that deal is if the car would be going to an auto enthusiast, where it would have a prime spot in his collection... But that's just my two cents
Sorry to see you're selling, but I hope you've had a great time with the car.
EDIT: I would be very interested in your car, if it were closer. Good luck with the sale

I would say that's a good offer. I paid 2700 for my 97 in Oct 2015 with 244k and it immediately needed a timing belt job with cam seals 2k miles later. So if the T belt and WP is done, then 2500 for a 94 would be a good offer especially since there is no heat. Lets face it, you're in a cold state and heat is a necessity. If you were in AZ for instance, then people would glance over the heat issue.

Thanks for the prompt responses guys! While I do agree that I would prefer for this car to go to an auto enthusiast, I personally don't want to wait a long time for that person to come around. I bought this car because I wanted to own the first car Lexus ever made, and I had some fun with it for the year that I've had it. The person who offered me the 2500 seems to care about the car, but he's also a smoker. He said that he would only take the car to a Lexus dealer to get the heater core done, which I can respect. I think I'll say 2600 is the lowest I'll go.

I wouldnt carve the 2600 in stone but counter offer at 2700,"I want 3G,Im thinking 2700, I can do that...",that sort of thing,I wouldnt blow the deal for a hundred bux or 2.Either as a buyer or seller. He wants to save 500,counter 2700,take the 2500 if its just the best you can get.A bird in the hand type thing. My seller had his up for about a month, got 2 bites and 1 actually show.Mine had 244,xxx miles in a wealthy enclave, nobody could grasp that.I got it for 2,500,what he had reduced ad price to.I didnt make a lower offer,it was a clean fine running maintained car,no need to beat him up,he had already taken a hit on it.
He's a smoker? Better than a moron who wants to trash it.
Best of luck!

Even though he's a smoker, at least he's going to take care of the car. I was worried about the offer being from someone who just wants cheap transportation.
You can try meeting him in the middle with a counter offer of $2750, since you are asking $3k and he offered $2.5k.

I actually talked him into $2600.. I kind of knew it was a bad idea, but I also knew that 2700 would be a little high. I just didn't want to settle for less, since I'm really not a good car salesmen. But hey, he's in at 2600, so I'm happy! Now just waiting for him to get back to me today.

Congrats on the sale. Sounds like you found a good buyer, so that's the best thing of all.
