I don't have this procedure link in my bookmarks. Search for it in this forum and on google. There are two bolts to the side of the engine block that are easier to see if you take the tire off. There is bolt or two near them on the block that have nothing to do with mounting the power steering pump, and should be left alone. The bolt in the front is at about the 3 o'clock position and can be reached through the pulley holes. Good Luck.

Thanks guys for all the help. I managed to get to the alternator and get it unbolted. However, I could not remove the pulley or the pump. Can't get leverage on the pulley. Pump didn't want to live, probably loosened the wrong bolts. My patience ran out and I put everything back together.
Is there anyone in the NYC area that is willing to help me replace my alternator? I'm willing to pay very well! A local sho quoted me 300 for labor alone.

I replaced an alternator on my 99LS long time ago, don't remember much, I don;t think I took off the steering pulley.
All I remember I removed the alternator from below, not above. It is a tight fit and it seemed like it wouldn't come down, but it did!
